About the Opportunity
The District of Peachland is looking for a full-time Water Treatment Operator II / III / IV based in Peachland, BC.
Reporting to the Chief Water Treatment Operator, with support from the Manager of Utilities, you will play a key role in operating and maintaining the District’s water treatment systems, including a modern, recently upgraded facility, to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality drinking water to the community.
In this position, you will be primarily responsible for the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the Peachland Creek water treatment plant, while supporting the broader water distribution system as required.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Operating and maintaining water treatment and distribution infrastructure to ensure safe and efficient system performance
- Monitoring treatment processes, equipment, and systems to support continuous plant operation
- Conducting water quality testing to ensure compliance with municipal, provincial, and federal regulations
- Maintaining and managing materials, chemicals, and equipment required for treatment processes
- Utilizing SCADA systems and related software to monitor performance and record operational data
- Responding to system alarms and participating in after-hours standby rotation as required
- Supporting maintenance and operational needs within the water distribution system
- Ensuring adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards across all operations

About You
To qualify, you will need an EOCP Water Treatment Level II, III, or IV certification, along with 3+ years of related experience in water treatment operations or a similar environment. Preference will be given to candidates with Level IV certification.
The following are required:
- Valid BC Class 5 driver’s licence with air brake endorsement
- EOCP Chlorine Handling certification
- Confined space entry certification
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
- Experience operating and maintaining water treatment and distribution systems
- Experience using SCADA systems and related software to monitor and report operational data
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and water quality standards
- Mechanical aptitude and experience working with treatment equipment and systems
- Experience troubleshooting operational issues in a municipal, utility, or industrial environment
- Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and asset management
- EOCP Water Distribution II certification
- Post-secondary education in water quality, environmental science, or a related field
